My mom and sister and I used to make these halloween cupcakes every year. It was always one of my favorite things about Halloween. I even continued the tradition with college roommates and friends over the years. The skeletons were made with Good&Plenty’s as bones and marshmallow heads. the way Mom used a toothpick to turn a spiral into a spider web still seems like magic to this day.

As the older sister, I always felt like a special guest at my sister’s birthday parties. I remember loving this cake and the unique colors.

My Nana was a very special woman and the matriarch of our family. She lived to be 98 years old. She loved her four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren very much, and we all loved her too. For her 95th, we had a big party for her. It is a very happy memory for me.

After a long year of Covid weirdness, I was lucky enough to have a small group of friends over to my Brooklyn apartment for my twenty second birthday party. My mom was back in Boston and had this delicious Milk-Bar cake delivered to my house. I had always wanted to try one of these cakes, so it was a very fun surprise!
